After 23 years riding bike with more or less motivation, from riding school to long distance through top level, I felt like I have nothing more to discover in cycling. But I am still in the mood for new challenges in sport. Since a long time, I wanted to try triathlon but I never had energy to train in running.
On the day of my 33, I decide to celebrate my 35 with an Ironman. Try triathlon is OK but I don’t want to experience the least. My plan is crystal clear and inspired by Valentino Rossi: one year to make experience and one year to win. By win, I mean finish.
After a quick overview, I spot Zürich Ironman which presents two advantages:
1 – It is quite late in the season. As I am difficulties to get fit, I will have time.
2 – It is during summer holidays so my wife and my son will be able to come with me.
Before starting my training, I first have to assess my skills in the three sports:
- Swimming: zero
- Riding: preparing l’Etape du Tour, so quite good but not top level
- Running: zero.
I have a lot of work to do to achieve my goal.
